The History of ILA, Companion and meals on wheels
|
May 2000, Partners in Prime started providing Independent Living Assistance and Companion services. We took what was called SHOP and combined that program with companion services and just added the ILA services. Since our creation we have served over 200 clients. We are currently serving 60 ILA clients and 35 companion clients.
Partners in Prime is committed to enhancing the nutritional health of local persons over 60 by serving hot nutritious meals for over 20 years. In 2001, Partners in Prime changed the name of its meal delivery services from Home Delivered Meals to More Than a Meal. With our name change we started to providing more than a hot lunch, but a friendly meal delivery, a monthly newsletter, the option to rate the meal by a calling a hotline to vote, we began sending birthday cards, monthly puzzles, and try to connect clients with other in home services. Currently, we serve over 600 clients a day. Today, the program is named meals on wheels, and we continue to offer "more than a meal" to our clients.
