Partners in Prime is committed to enhancing the nutritional health of individuals over 60 in Butler County by delivering hot nutritious meals to homebound individuals and has done so for over 20 years. In the past several years our name has changed but our concept has not. You may know us as More Than a Meal, Home Delivered Meals or meals on wheels, but our great meals and service remain the same.
What is meals on wheels?
Meals on wheels is a division of Partners in Prime. Meals on wheels delivers hot nutritious meals to individuals over 60 in Butler County. We hope to educate our clients about proper nutrition and give them a connection to other in-home support services. Our goal is to assist individuals over 60 with maintaining a good quality of life at home.
Meals on wheels program serves homebound persons 60 and over where the person is having difficulty preparing his/her own meals. The purpose of the program is to provide essential nutrition and prevent health deterioration and loss of independence. Our goal is to assist individuals with maintaining a good quality of life at home.
When do clients receive their meal?
The meals are scheduled to be received by the client between 10:30am-1:00pm, Monday through Friday. If the client has limited family support, the client may receive two frozen meals plus milk, breads and fruits for Saturday and Sunday. Clients may also receive one hot and one frozen meal daily based on their need.
What does my meal consist of?
Our home delivered meals fit into a diabetic meal plan, and provide 1/3 of your daily nutritional needs or approximately 700 calories per meal. Each meal typically has 60-80 grams of carbohydrates, and no additional salt is added to our meals. We regret that substitutions are not available, due to the large quantity of daily meals prepared.
How can I participate in this program?
Meals on wheels is a service provider for Butler County Elderly Services Program (ESP) and the Pre-Admission Screening System Providing Options and Resources Today (PASSPORT). The Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio is the program administrator for both of these programs. ESP and PASSPORT meals are paid through local and federal funding with a sharing of costs for ESP participants.
